Alison Sweeney Signs an Exciting New Contract!

What an awesome birthday present! As Alison Sweeney (ex-Sami, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) celebrated her birthday on September 19 came news that the actress inked a new contract with Hallmark Media! According to Deadline, which first reported the news, Sweeney’s multi-picture deal will have the former DAYS star acting in and producing several new movies for the network.

In a statement, Lisa Hamilton Daly, executive vice president of programming at Hallmark Media, shared, “Alison has been an incredible creative partner for us over the years — both on screen as well as behind the camera as a producer. She’s long been a fan favorite, and we can’t wait to continue our work together as we bring new stories to life.

Sweeney joined the Hallmark family back in 2013 when she starred in the movie Second Chances — which ironically paired her opposite her DAYS twin Greg Vaughan (Eric) as a 911 operator and a firefighter who fall in love. Since then, Sweeney has bounced back and forth between her movies for Hallmark Channel and sister network Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, while also continuing to return to DAYS for brief visits. As one of Hallmark’s stable of actors, Sweeney has starred in movies like The Wedding Veil trilogy, Love On The Air, The Irresistible Blueberry Farm, Open By Christmas, and countless others, and has anchored two popular Hallmark film franchises, the Murder, She Baked series (co-starring GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Drew, Cameron Mathison) and The Chronicle Mysteries series.

Up next for Sweeney at the network is A Magical Christmas Village, which will premiere later this year as part of Hallmark Channel’s annual “Countdown to Christmas” event. In addition to starring in the movie opposite Luke Macfarlane, one of Hallmark’s popular leading men, the pair will also share executive producer duties. Marlo Thomas also stars as Sweeney’s character’s mother.

“I am thrilled to continue to work with Hallmark as they continue to support my work as an actress and a producer,” Sweeney said. “I’m very proud of our Christmas movie and excited for the future projects to come!”

On Twitter, she added that she is “so grateful to team up with all the talented people at Hallmark Channel.” We can’t wait to see what comes next for Sweeney at Hallmark Media!
