Viewers were heartbroken when Abigail was killed off on Days of Our Lives back in June 2022, but now they have been given reason to hope for her return with a recent storyline twist. However, since the person claiming that Abigail isn’t really dead is Clyde Weston, it’s kind of hard to believe him!

Chad was stunned when Clyde made the outrageous claim, but portrayer Billy Flynn explained that despite how preposterous it sounds, his alter ego listens. “There’s a part of him that has to believe it,” the actor told Soap Opera Digest. “Even if there’s a one percent chance [Clyde’s telling the truth], if it’s your wife, you’ve got to [take it seriously]. And it wouldn’t be the first time that somebody’s come back from the dead.”

For a town that seems to have a revolving door between the lands of the living and the dead, Abigail’s demise appeared to be one of the more permanent ones. And while Chad still isn’t entirely sure Clyde is on the up-and-up, he simply can’t rest until he’s investigated the criminal’s claims.

“It starts with, ‘We’ve got to see where this next breadcrumb leads,’” Flynn previewed. “‘We’ve got to follow the breadcrumbs.’ If nothing comes of it, then nothing comes of it. But Abby would look for Chad, so he’s going to look for her.”

Discovering Abigail is really alive would change everything for Chad and his family, but he still can’t quite entertain that dream for fear of it being dashed. “He’s not thinking that far ahead,” the actor admitted. “He’s just in the moment trying to do whatever the next thing is. He’s going to need to follow [the leads]. He thinks that it could be true, but he’s not letting himself live in that world yet.”

Stay tuned to DAYS to see what other twists and turns lay ahead as the mystery unfolds!
