Attendees at the Day of DAYS fan event traditionally know that they are going to get some inside DAYS OF OUR LIVES casting scoop. And those viewers who showed up at the fan event on Nov. 12 — which was held in person for the first time in two years due to the pandemic — were the first to hear the exciting news that Kristian Alfonso and Peter Reckell are returning to the soap as Hope and Bo!
Although Alfonso and Reckell weren’t present at the fan gathering, they did pre-tape a video message for their loyal supporters, which was later posted on the soap’s official Twitter page. “We’re sorry we couldn’t be there with you,” Reckell said, while Alfonso added that “we really wish we could have been there to celebrate with all of you.”
At that point in the video, Alfonso held up her pointer finger and exclaimed, “But…” — leaving the audience hanging as she and Reckell volleyed back and forth over which one of them would spill the beans. “We are back taping here at the studio,” Reckell ultimately confessed.
“Something very special,” Alfonso said, jumping in.
Reckell and Alfonso reunited on screen over the summer in the second installment of the DAYS spinoff BEYOND SALEM in a storyline that also included Steve Burton’s Harris Michaels. At the very end of the limited series, Bo was brought back to life, setting the stage for a potential love triangle with Bo, Hope, and Harris. The news that Reckell and Alfonso are returning to DAYS proper, which now streams on Peacock, follows last week’s announcement that Burton will be back on the soap in early 2023.
“We appreciate you every day, and all of the years that you have supported DAYS OF OUR LIVES and Bo and Hope,” Alfonso concluded the video. “We’ll see you very soon.”
