Cady McClain Opens up About Her Historic Daytime Emmy Win
This year’s Daytime Emmy Awards were pre-taped, so Cady McClain was actually at home with hubby Jon Lindstrom (Kevin, GENERAL HOSPITAL) when they found out she won the trophy for Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series for her stint as Jennifer on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. “My husband shouted so loud it woke the cat!” she laughed on Instagram. “Seriously, what a delightful moment. I’m so grateful, happy, and… grateful! Thank you, DAYS, for asking me to come play and to the cast and fans for embracing me during this really special storyline.”
McClain took over the role of Jennifer Horton when actress Melissa Reeves opted not to fly from her home in Tennessee to the DAYS studio in California due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And because her run only lasted from October 2020 to February 2021, McClain was eligible for the Guest Performer category. And after her win, the soap sent her a beautiful bouquet to celebrate the moment. “Thank you, DAYS, for these beautiful roses and peonies!” she exclaimed .”What a gorgeous and thoughtful gift to help me commemorate this moment in my life.”
This particular Emmy win was also a historic one as McClain made Daytime Emmy history! “That’s a lot to take in!” she marveled. “Three Emmys, three different shows, three different characters, three different networks… well, that’s true! How about that! Kinda cool. Thanks, Daytime Emmys, for this special moment. It means so very much to me and I am so grateful.”
McClain has been nominated for the Daytime Emmy Award eight different times during her extensive career and has taken home the gold three times in three different categories for roles on three different soaps. Her first was back in 1990 when she won Outstanding Younger Actress for her work as Dixie on ALL MY CHILDREN. Then in 2004, she was awarded Outstanding Supporting Actress for playing Rosanna on AS THE WORLD TURNS. And now, in 2021, she brought home the Emmy for Guest Performer for her brief stint as Jennifer on DAYS! Amazing!
“In truth, I love acting and I love actors,” McClain confided. “It is a courageous art meant to connect and uplift an audience, whether through comedy, tragedy, or a bit of both! I feel so blessed and grateful I was able to share my craft with all of you.”
We can’t wait to see what role this talented performer tackles next and if she takes home another award for it! Congratulations!
