COZI TV Plans a Deidre Hall Marathon!
On Saturday, May 18, cable network COZI TV has scheduled a four-hour mini-marathon featuring television icon Deidre Hall! Of course, to soap fans, Hall is known for her long tenure as Dr. Marlena Evans on Days Of Our Lives. But in the “Day of Our Deidre” programming event, COZI TV will feature the Daytime Emmy winner in some of her other memorable television roles!
The marathon will highlight the DAYS star’s early role on Emergency!— on which she played Nurse Sally Lewis for six episodes during the 1970s medical drama’s first two seasons — and one of her two guest-starring appearances opposite Peter Falk’s Columbo. “Before becoming a daytime TV icon, Deidre Hall honed her craft on some of TV’s most beloved series. Now, join COZI TV for a day of her memorable early roles,” an announcer said in a promo for the “Day of Our Deidre” marathon posted on social media.
Hall’s television tribute will begin at 8 a.m. ET with Season 2, Episode 3 of Emergency!, titled “Show Biz.” Next up, at 9 a.m. ET is another Emergency! episode, “Saddled,” which was Season 2, Episode 6. Both of those shows originally aired in 1972. Capping off the four-hour block of vintage Hall television appearances at 10 a.m. is one slightly more recent: her 1990 episode from Columbo’s 9th season. In “Columbo Cries Wolf,” Hall plays Dian Hunter, the publisher of a men’s magazine who wants to sell her shares to a media tycoon. Unfortunately, Dian’s adulterous partner — played by Ian Buchanan (ex-Ian, DAYS; ex-Duke, General Hospital; ex-James, The Bold & The Beautiful) — is against the sale, and soon afterward, Dian disappears on a London-bound flight.
In addition to the COZI TV mini-marathon, Hall will guest-star on the Wednesday, May 23, episode of Hacks. In the comedy-drama, the soap legend will play Deidre Hall — a fictional version of herself and the mom of one of the show’s main characters, Jimmy (played by Paul W. Downs). “It made sense to us that Jimmy’s late father, a big-time manager, would have been married to an actress,” Hacks co-creator Lucia Aniello told EW. “When the idea for Deidre Hall came up, it just felt right.”
Hacks streams on HBO’s streaming platform, Max. Check local listings to see if your cable provider offers COZI TV.
