Dan Feuerriegel Is the New EJ on DAYS OF OUR LIVES!
Get ready, Salem, because EJ is coming back! Dan Feuerriegel has been cast as the newest recast of EJ DiMera on DAYS OF OUR LIVES and is scheduled to first air on Wednesday, June 9. “EJ has always been an important character to the Salem landscape,” executive producer Ken Corday told Deadline, “and we’re thrilled to have found Dan to bring him back to the canvas.”
The character of EJ DiMera was born way back in 1997 to parents Susan Banks and Stefano DiMera. The role was aged to an adult in 2006 when James Scott joined the cast for a run that lasted until the character was killed off in 2014. However, following a warehouse explosion in 2018, a bandaged mystery patient played by Trey Baxter was revealed to be EJ back from the dead! (Dead is really just a state of mind in Salem…) However, the character was only on briefly before Sami took him back to Europe to recuperate from his injuries.
“I am so excited to bring EJ back to DAYS and see what flavor I can bring him,” Feurriegel said. Viewers might recognize the actor from his starring role as gladiator Agron in Starz’s SPARTACUS series or his recent appearances in primetime series like NCIS: LA, CHICAGO FIRE, and AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. or films like Pacific Rim: Uprising. Back in his native Australia, Feurriegel also worked on several soaps including MCLEOD’S DAUGHTERS, HOME AND AWAY, and ALL SAINTS.
Given that Sami has recently cheated on EJ with Lucas — and more than once! — fans have been waiting for the other shoe to drop. Kristen has been using this affair as leverage to blackmail Sami, so might she finally fill EJ in on what his wife has been up to while she’s been back in Salem? You’ll just have to stay tuned to see how it all plays out!
