When Mike Manning (ex-Charlie, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) won his Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performance by a Supporting Actor in a Daytime Fiction Program for his role as Caleb on THE BAY, he surprised many with his acceptance speech when he thanked his husband!
The actor declined to name his spouse and told Soap Opera Digest at the event, “He’s not in the business and he hates attention, and he works in finance, so it’s completely different from what I do. But he’s very supportive, so I lucked out.”
While he’s keeping his private life private, Manning is eternally grateful that he was able to tie the knot with the man that he loves. “I grew up thinking I would never get married and I just sort of accepted that,” he confided. “To be able to marry my best friend in front of my family and friends — and I’m the oldest child so it was the first wedding in my family — was very special and very important.”
Although he hasn’t shared any details of his husband or his wedding, Manning did share a piece of his big day in the most recent season of THE BAY. “In season six, in the finale, we shoot a wedding between my character and Eric Nelsen (Daniel; AJ, ALL MY CHILDREN) and for that wedding scene, I wore the actual suit that I wore in my wedding,” he revealed.
Congratulations to Manning and his husband and please join us in wishing them a lifetime of happiness together!
