Another familiar face is coming back to Salem when Kyle Lowder returns to Days of Our Lives as Rex! Back in June 2023, he revealed that he had left Los Angeles to work as the morning anchor for KTVN in Reno, NV, but thankfully for fans, that didn’t mean he gave up acting entirely. Unfortunately, due to the soap’s advanced taping schedule, his episodes won’t actually air until next year!

After the actor shared a video on his Instagram Stories to tease that he was back at a familiar Burbank studio, Soap Opera Digest confirmed that Lowder was returning to DAYS as Rex, and would air in the spring. Lowder hinted that he was going to be filming for three days, so we’ll see how many episodes that translates into.

Lowder first joined the cast of DAYS back in August 2000 when he was cast as an older Brady Black. After his exit in 2005, the actor then joined CBS sudser The Bold & The Beautiful to play a recast Rick Forrester from 2007-11. He then returned to DAYS in October 2018, taking over the role of Rex Brady, previously played by Eric Winter.

Lowder’s initial run as Rex ended in 2019 but he has returned sporadically in the years that followed. The last time viewers saw Rex was back in October 2023 when he agreed to divorce Sarah and returned to live in Chicago. Sarah recently married Xander and was struck by Fiona who was driving drunk. But if Rex isn’t coming back to Salem until the Spring, who knows where the storyline might be at that point to bring him back to town. We’ll just have to stay tuned to find out!
