By the end of the year, DAYS OF OUR LIVES‘ Jennifer will be back in Salem — and Melissa Reeves will be reprising her role! The news was first reported by Kelli Gustafson of the JnJClassicDays Instagram account. The DAYS superfan met Reeves and her hubby, Scott Reeves (ex-Steve, GENERAL HOSPITAL), at a fan event in Tennessee last weekend and got quite the scoop from the actress herself!
While recapping her meet-and-greet experience with Reeves on her Twitter profile, Gustafson revealed that “Missy will be back for the Christmas episode.” In replying to responses to her tweet, Gustafson added, “She told me that without me even asking her. She knows we all want to know… She said she was coming back for that episode, but I didn’t push her for more info… Hopefully, she’s back for more than that, too… She said she’ll be there for the ornament hanging! This is a Christmas miracle… She’s very classy and as amazing as you think she would be. I can’t wait to see her on-screen again!”
The news of Reeves’ return was confirmed by a source to TVLine, with the site reporting that “her comeback is slated to take place around the holidays.”
Reeves’ return to DAYS comes a year after soap vet Cady McClain (ex-Kelly, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS; Rosanna, AS THE WORLD TURNS; Dixie, ALL MY CHILDREN) was tapped to temporarily play the role. After the COVID lockdown, Reeves, who commutes to Los Angeles from Tennessee, opted to remain at home with her family once DAYS resumed production in September 2020 rather than travel during the ongoing pandemic. The soap announced in October that McClain would be filling in as Jennifer, and the actress went on to earn a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Performer after exiting in mid-January.
At the time of McClain’s exit, Jennifer left Salem for Boston to help settle the affairs of her late mother, Laura. With Reeves resuming the role, will Jennifer be moving back to Salem for good, or will her comeback just be a holiday visit? Stay tuned!
