DAYS OF OUR LIVES Not Currently in Production During Coronavirus Spread

As restrictions continue to be put in place to manage the spread of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, places all around the world are shutting down temporarily. And DAYS OF OUR LIVES is one of those places as the soap is not currently not taping. “DAYS is not still in production,” the soap’s headwriter, Ron Carlivati, confirmed on Twitter. “At the moment, the show is dark this week and next.”

GENERAL HOSPITAL has halted production until Friday, April 10, and CBS Daytime has shut down THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL and THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS for at least two weeks beginning on March 17. But as Stephen Nichols (Steve) and Mary Beth Evans (Kayla) revealed in an Instagram video to fans, DAYS was already scheduled for a break. So while the show would normally resume production the week of March 31, we’ll just have to wait and see if that actually happens.

Luckily for DAYS fans, the NBC sudser is one of the soaps that tapes extremely far ahead and should have months of episodes available to air, so there should be no interruption to the drama as they’re very unlikely to run out of broadcast shows as they wait to resume production of new ones. “We have also halted production but we already taped Halloween and some of November sweeps so there will be plenty of Days of Our Lives for the moment,” Carlivati promised. “Next week I am writing Christmas.”
