Steve Burton Returns to DAYS OF OUR LIVES!
We’ve got good news and bad news. Yes, Steve Burton is returning to daytime, but unfortunately for GENERAL HOSPITAL fans, he won’t be coming back to Port Charles as Jason Morgan. No, the actor will once again be reprising his role of Harris Michaels on DAYS OF OUR LIVES!
People broke the news that after bringing Harris Michaels back for the second series of BEYOND SALEM, Burton will be returning to DAYS proper in early 2023. (The soap tapes that far ahead!) Although details about the character’s return are being kept under wraps for now, Peacock teases that it’s “a thrilling new storyline” that will involve him with Stephen Nichols (Steve), Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), Deidre Hall (Marlena), and Drake Hogestyn (John).
Burton first played Harris on DAYS back in 1988, though it was a very short-term stint. He did return as the character for BEYOND SALEM for a storyline that saw Harris working for Megan Hathaway and seducing Hope Brady so that he could later kill her. After justice was served and Harris was taken into custody, he told Hope he did genuinely care for her, but she left him to face the consequences of his actions.
The actor is probably best known for playing Jason on GH from 1991-2012 and then again from 2017-21. He was let go from the ABC sudser for refusing to comply with the COVID vaccine mandate set down by parent company Disney. When that decision was recently reversed, many fans hoped this would mean that Burton would be returning to Port Charles, but unfortunately, if they want to continue to enjoy watching him on TV, they’re going to have to stream DAYS on Peacock!
