This year, Mary Beth Evans (Kayla, DAYS OF OUR LIVES) finds herself up for three different Daytime Emmy Awards!
The daytime vet is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress for her work on DAYS and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Digital Daytime Drama Series for playing Sara on the web series THE BAY. And if that wasn’t enough, she’s also in the running for Outstanding Digital Daytime Drama Series as one of the producers of THE BAY!
“Isn’t that wild?” she enthuses to Soaps In Depth. “It’s kind of exciting.”
Despite being in daytime for decades, Evans admits that she’s rarely considered submitting herself for the Emmys over the years. “It was always such a lock with the Erika Slezaks (Viki, ONE LIFE TO LIVE) and people like that, you know what I mean?” she says of the stiff acting competition. “I never felt like I was in their league. But this year I finally felt like I had something to submit.
“I think there’s just been more freedom in my acting, more freedom in my life,” Evans continues. “More freedom to just throw it out there. So I think it’s a good time. Who knows if it will really ever happen again?”
