The 44th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are only a couple weeks away, and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences have been releasing the submission reels of the nominated actors as the big day approaches. Now you can see exactly the same clips that the Blue Ribbon Panel watch to vote on the winner!
Check out these submissions from Outstanding Supporting Actor nominees John Aniston (Victor, DAYS OF OUR LIVES), Steve Burton (ex-Dylan, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS), Chad Duell (Michael, GENERAL HOSPITAL), Jeffrey Vincent Parise (ex-Carlos/Joe, GH), and James Reynolds (Abe, DAYS) and see if you can predict who will win the Emmy!
John Aniston (Victor, DAYS)
Aniston’s Emmy reel opens with a lovely scene of Victor professing his love to Maggie before segueing into the scenes of the businessman’s bitter confrontation with Deimos where he faked a heart attack to test his estranged brother’s feelings.
Steve Burton (ex-Dylan, Y&R)
The dramatic baby switch reveal leading up to Burton’s exit from the soap offered the actor an embarrassment of riches to chose from when assembling his reel. Beginning with Dylan learning the heartbreaking truth from Sharon that Sully is not really his son, the tape continues with the cop tearfully handing the baby over to Nick, and ends with the scene at the batting cage where he angrily blasts Sharon for wanting to keep her lies and the whole scandal under wraps.
Chad Duell (Michael, GH)
The past year wasn’t a good one for Michael, but it was an amazing showcase for Duell’s talents. The actor filled his Emmy reel with a grieving Michael saying a final farewell to Sabrina, learning about Morgan’s tragic death and taking his anger out on Sonny, and finally confronting Kiki about her role in Morgan’s demise.
Jeffrey Vincent Parise (ex-Carlos/Joe, GH)
Parise opens his reel with the scene of Carlos taunting Sonny at gunpoint in Ecuador, then displays a softer side of the character when Carlos tried to keep Sabrina’s spirits up when she was in labor while they were on the run. His submission continues with Parise showing even more of his range playing Carlos’ look-alike brother, Joe, and concludes with him playing Carlos again as his ghost torments Julian.
James Reynolds (Abe, DAYS)
Reynold’s reel kicks off with a gentle scene of Abe comforting his son, Theo, continues with him showing his authoritative side as mayor both in the office and during a press conference, and ends with a painfully weak Abe recovering in the hospital after being shot.
Now that you’ve seen all the Supporting Actor submissions, see if you can predict which of these talented men will bring home Emmy gold at the ceremony on Sunday, April 30!
