Alexis Recast Temporarily on GENERAL HOSPITAL!

Don’t be alarmed, it’s just another temporary recast on GENERAL HOSPITAL! Alexis will be getting a new look for a little bit while Nancy Lee Grahn is recovering from back surgery. Actress Stephanie Erb will be filling in during her medical leave so that Alexis’ story can continue uninterrupted.

GH will not be Erb’s daytime debut as she played Camille Owens on PORT CHARLES back in 2000, Mona in an episode of DAYS OF OUR LIVES in 2001, and Dr. Janice Mead on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS in 2014. Viewers might also recognize the actress from her numerous appearances in primetime on series like ELLEN, ER, WILL & GRACE, NYPD BLUE, GREY’S ANATOMY, WEEDS, TRUE BLOOD, RAY DONOVAN, and 9-1-1.

The character of Alexis Davis was introduced back in September 1996 with Grahn in the role and she has continued to portray the beleaguered attorney to this day, earning nine Daytime Emmy Award nominations and taking home the trophy in 2012 for Outstanding Supporting Actress.

This actually is not the first time that the role of Alexis was temporarily recast. Back in November 2001, actress Susan Diol took over for a few months when Grahn’s father passed away. Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Erb will first appear as Alexis the week of April 25.

GH has been home to quite a few temporary recasts lately with Priscilla Garita taking over the role of Harmony for a handful of episodes, Lindsay Hartley stepping in as Sam again for a bit, among others. Thankfully for fans, this is once again just a temporary replacement, and Grahn will be back on the soap just as soon as she’s recovered. Please join us in sending her best wishes for a speedy recovery!
