Alley Mills on the New Heather on General Hospital
Heather had previously declared she wanted to stay locked up for her crimes on General Hospital, but a visit from Scott seems to have changed all that! After he argued that she could sue the company that made the hip replacement that gave her cobalt poisoning and get a hefty payout, he pointed out that she could also argue that the metalosis caused the psychotic break that led her to kill.
“In that conversation, it’s suddenly becoming something very different for Heather because up until then, I don’t think Heather has ever thought she could get out of maximum security prison,” Alley Mills admitted to Soap Opera Digest. “I think she had kind of given up on that when she said to Laura, ‘You know what, please just take care of Ace and do your best and bring me pictures [of our grandson].” She had made her peace with it, but suddenly Scott comes and stirs the pot and her head is spinning!”
Laura had talked about re-examining Heather’s case but when Scotty suggests that they could actually win, that actually gives the convict hope for the first time in ages. “Now, Heather’s wheels are spinning with ‘Maybe I could have a life,’” the actress explained. “I mean, she’s been in prison for years. Not just [since I’ve been playing her], but when Robin Mattson was playing her. It’s a devastating life and I think she decides, ‘If there’s any possibility that I can get out, I want to get out. I’ve got to give it everything I’ve got.’”
Although Laura had said she was going to honor Heather’s wishes and stop trying to reopen the case, will she continue to be on her side when Heather decides to fight for her freedom? And if Heather does manage to get out of prison, how will Portia and Trina react to having her walking around Port Charles a free woman? This could get ugly!
