Ashley Jones Understands Why GH’s Parker and Kristina Fans Felt Betrayed
Parker Forsythe hasn’t been on GENERAL HOSPITAL since 2017, but there are still some devoted fans who remember the character and miss her relationship with Kristina Davis. And portrayer Ashley Jones appreciates that loyalty.
“Especially on Twitter and Instagram and Facebook, there’s a lot of people that keep talking about Parker and that relationship that I guess made an impact on a lot of people’s lives,” the actress said in an interview with SheKnowsSoaps.com.
Allowing that the pairing got off to a rocky start as Parker was originally Kristina’s college professor, Jones believes that it was the chemistry between her and co-star Lexi Ainsworth that grabbed the audience. “I think the beauty of what happened is that it was just a real bond,” she mused. “We had a real bond in real life. I really loved working with her. She’s a fantastic actress. And I think it really popped on screen — I guess — that there was a deep connection.”
But Jones also believes she knows why fans are still thinking about Parker and Kristina even all these years later. “Mainly, I think they pulled the story before it was finished and that’s why the audience hasn’t let it go yet,” she said. “Some writers do this for a myriad of reasons and executive producers or networks decide to do certain things and the audience feels a little bit betrayed or not fulfilled or wants to know the rest of it.
“Which is a testament to the writing, honestly, and the characters they created,” Jones added. “And the fact that we left some sort of mark on people’s hearts or brains is… wow, that’s what you hope to do as an actor.”
While it’s unlikely that Parker will ever resurface in Port Charles, GH fans can keep watching to see what happens next to Kristina. And if you want to see more of Jones, she’s been popping up occasionally over on CBS sudser THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL where she plays Bridget!
