GH’s Briana Nicole Henry Reveals Why Mother’s Day Is so Special to Her (EXCLUSIVE)

Tags:

Daytime actress Briana Nicole Henry (Jordan, GENERAL HOSPITAL) might just be Tia Pedraza’s biggest fan. “My mom’s just so true to herself,” Jor- dan’s portrayer gushed to Soaps In Depth. “She’s such a quirky character. When you meet her, you remember her! She’s kind of a big personality, and I’ve always appreciated that about her. She’s funny and beautiful and has no shame about who she is. [Once], she was dancing up a storm in the lobby of Rumble — it’s like the Soul Cycle of boxing. If only I had that kind of freeness with myself!”

Henry enjoys her mother’s company so much that they hang out several times a week and talk on the phone more than once a day. “She is absolutely one of my best friends,” the actress said. “She feels like my sister aside from the disciplinary aspect of our relationship. Well, it’s less about discipline now than advice or wisdom.”

The twosome get together to run errands, work out, and perhaps most importantly, catch up with THE REAL HOUSEWIVES. “I love watching the shows with her,” Henry confided. “Now, we’ll watch them separately and call each other. You would think these women were my aunts from how much we have bonded over them. I’ve been watching them since I was in high school, so I’ve grown up with these women. I suppose that’s how some people feel about soaps. There’s a nostalgia to it.”

Naturally, Henry takes any opportunity to celebrate Pedraza, but Mother’s Day is special. “My mom’s mom passed when she was young, so it’s a sacred day for her,” she explained. “I always make sure we do something fun. There have been some years where we’ve done extravagant things like a beautiful brunch on a rooftop and then some years where it’s been like, ‘Forget it. Let’s go to Subway and go home and watch TV all day.’ As long as we’re together.”

Mom will also receive the requisite flowers and candy, and now perhaps even a “pretty good gift,” Henry teased. “Not like in college when I was barely hanging on!” While the GH star is ready to go all out there’s still one major gift she had yet to give. “I’m really excited to see my mom as a grandma and to share her with my future kids one day,” she grinned. “And I already feel jealous of them!”
