Brook Kerr Defends Portia’s Actions on General Hospital
The way that Portia feels about Heather on General Hospital, it wasn’t too surprising to find out that the co-chief of staff tampered with her patient’s blood tests to make it appear that the cobalt poisoning from her faulty hip replacement wasn’t responsible for Heather’s psychotic murder spree. But while some fans are calling foul, portrayer Brook Kerr totally understands her character’s point of view.
“I was thinking that Portia is doing it… not necessarily unconsciously, but she’s doing it more like ‘Let’s just dot our I’s and cross our T’s,’” the actress confided to Soap Opera Digest. “‘Let’s just make sure there’s no room for this not to go the way we want it to [when Heather is in court]. Let’s leave no room for chance.’ So when it comes out, it’s, you know, no harm no foul.
“Those are my justifications, by the way!” Kerr added with a laugh. “It’s no harm, no foul because this woman did terrorize people and maybe the other people that are in her world aren’t as familiar with the fact of where that murderous rage came from.”
Wanting to protect her daughter, Trina, from Heather, Portia is desperate to make sure no one discovers the truth, but Heather’s attorney, Ric Lansing, has already noticed a discrepancy in his client’s test results. And if he continues to investigate, there’s another hospital employee who could also cause some trouble for Portia — newly rehired lab tech Brad!
“Brad’s a wild card!” Kerr declared. “He’s a bit of a wild card and Portia doesn’t trust him. He’s proven that he can’t be trustworthy, so to have any sense of vulnerability that he might find out something that is so important to Portia is terrifying to her.”
Of course, when it’s revealed that someone tampered with Heather’s blood test results, Brad could make the perfect scapegoat for Portia to blame! Stay tuned to GH to see how the storyline continues to unfold!
