GH’s Chad Duell Opens up About His Split From Y&R’s Courtney Hope

Tags:

For five years, Chad Duell  (Michael, GENERAL HOSPITAL) and Courtney Hope (Sally, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) were soapdom’s real-life supercouple. Fans followed them on social media as they took hikes with their collective dogs, built a beautiful home together, got engaged, and then got married on Oct. 23 in a lavish, red-and-black gothic-themed affair. Then, sadly, less than two months after they tied the knot, the couple quietly separated, leaving their fans crushed and understandably wondering what went wrong.

At the time of their split, neither Duell nor Hope publicly commented on their separation, but the Y&R actress had seemingly removed most photos of the GH star from their Instagram account. Now, for the first time, Duell opened up about the breakup during a sit-down with his TV pop, Maurice Benard (Sonny). “Out of respect to her, I’m not going to delve too much into all this stuff,” Duell said during the latest episode of Benard’s State of Mind YouTube series. “All I’ll say is she’s an amazing person, she’s an amazing woman, she’s an amazing dog mom.”

Being true to his word, Duell didn’t divulge any details as to what led to him and Hope parting ways, other than to confess that “it’s a complicated situation… but it’s not what people think.” Nothing terrible happened between them, Duell added, or anything unforgivable that one did to the other. “We’re still on good terms. She’s an amazing person in so many ways,” he raved of his ex, noting that Hope would probably be tuning in to see the interview. “All I have to say is positive things. It’s just… mutual.”

During his chat with Benard, Duell also dropped the bombshell that his and Hope’s union wasn’t a legal one. “We didn’t actually sign anything,” he noted. “We weren’t really, like, you know, married or anything. It was amicable. That’s all I can really say. We always want the best for each other.”

We wish both Duell and Hope well as they each move on with their lives.
