Chad Duell’s Girlfriend Opens Up About Her Difficult Pregnancy

Tags:

The miracle of pregnancy is one of the most wonderful things that can happen to a woman, knowing that you are creating a life that is half you, half your partner. But all the changes that a woman’s body goes through during that process can be overwhelming, especially when her pregnancy is medically complicated as well. Brazilian model Luana Lucci — the girlfriend of GENERAL HOSPITAL star Chad Duell (Michael) — has been documenting her pregnancy journey on social media, and her posts have been both honest and inspiring as she journals all of the good parts and the difficult parts.

Recently, Lucci confessed to a “vulnerable moment” with her followers. Posting a mirror selfie where she is cradling her baby bump while wearing a bikini, Lucci revealed that she’d been diagnosed with a large subchorionic hematoma (bleeding under one of the membranes that surrounds the fetus) and placenta previa, which occurs when the placenta lies very low in the uterus. As a result of the medical complications, “My pregnancy journey has been far from easy,” Lucci admitted. “Despite the challenges, I’m doing my best to stay positive and keep my hopes high. Feeling my little one’s kicks is pure magic and reminds me of the miracle growing inside of me.”

A few days later, on April 27, Lucci, who is 21 weeks pregnant, shared another honest moment with her followers. This time, she shared then-and-now photos, the first in a leopard-print bikini on the beach and the second showing off her bare bump in the reflection of a mirror, as she opened up about the wave of emotions she’s been going through. “Nobody talks about this part of pregnancy,” she began. “The part where you see your body completely change.”

As someone who leads an active lifestyle and is health conscious, Lucci confessed that it’s been “hard to watch” the “drastic changes” in her body as her pregnancy progresses.

“But at the same time, I’m so grateful that my body is able to create and grow my healthy baby,” added Lucci, who will welcome her son with Duell in September. “It’s truly amazing what our bodies are capable of, and I feel blessed to experience this journey.”

Lucci, who also works as a flight attendant, continued that it’s important that women talk openly about the parts of pregnancy that aren’t so glamorous. “We put so much pressure on ourselves to look a certain way, especially in today’s social media culture,” she shared. “But the reality is that pregnancy can be emotional and downright hard at times.”

Taking the opportunity to lift up other moms-to-be who are struggling with body image, Lucci reminded them that they are not alone in their journey. “It’s okay to feel frustrated or sad or even angry,” she declared. “But also know that your body is doing something incredible, and that’s something to be proud of. Let’s support each other through all the ups and downs of pregnancy and motherhood.”

We wish Lucci well on the rest of her pregnancy journey and look forward to seeing photos of her and Duell’s son when he finally arrives!
