Charles Shaughnessy Says Goodbye to GENERAL HOSPITAL

Time is running out for the heroes to put a stop to Victor’s evil scheme and time is also running out on Charles Shaughnessy’s run on GENERAL HOSPITAL playing the dastardly villain! When a website lauded the actor for his performance in recent episodes, he responded with gratitude.

“Well, I am both honored and humbled! Thank you,” Shaughnessy declared. “I have been so grateful for such a fun, meaty role and the writers at GH are giving Victor one of the greatest villain send-offs I can remember!”

The character of Victor Cassadine first appeared back in 1981 alongside his brothers Mikkos and Tony as part of the iconic Ice Princess storyline and the freezing of Port Charles. Back then, the role was played by Thaao Penghlis, who returned for another stint in 2014. However, when the character was brought back to the canvas in September 2021, Charles Shaughnessy stepped into the role.

While previous portrayer Penghlis is also known for playing Andre and Tony DiMera on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, Shaughnessy has also appeared on the NBC/Peacock soap as Shane Donovan. Although he might be best known for playing Mr. Sheffield on the popular CBS sitcom THE NANNY!

With Victor in the final stages of his plan to “save the world” by unleashing a toxin that will kill enough people to lower the planet’s population to a more manageable level, it’s a race against time to stop him before it’s too late. And as Shaughnessy’s run on GH wraps up, the only question is how permanent his exit will be. Will the good guys have to kill Victor to stop him or will he be able to escape to plot his revenge?
