Deputy Mayor Ashby on GENERAL HOSPITAL — Everything You Need To Know
Deputy mayor Eileen Ashby on GENERAL HOSPITAL is a shady character for sure! Actress Heather Mazur made her debut in the role in December 2021, though it wasn’t her daytime debut. She actually played attorney Brenda Brecheen on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS in 2018 and 2019. Viewers might also recognize the actress from roles on primetime series like TACOMA FD and GOOD TROUBLE.
Eileen Ashby first appeared when mayor Laura Collins had to go into witness protection and the deputy mayor took over in her absence. But Eileen was secretly working with Victor Cassadine, and keeping him informed on the mayor’s movements. She also frequently eavesdropped on Laura’s conversations to report back to Victor.
While listening in to Laura’s conversation with Dante Falconeri, Sam McCall, and Robert Scorpio about bringing down Victor, Eileen stepped in and wanted to know what was going on. Laura revealed she believed her ex-husband, Luke Spencer, had been murdered, and asked Eileen to give them some space. When she reported this to Victor, he also learned that his attempt to take Anna Devane and Felicia Scorpio out of the picture had failed. But he promised he had a Plan B.
Valentin Cassadine pushed Laura out of the way of a sniper’s bullet on the Metro Court balcony and later blasted Victor for using Eileen to lure the mayor there in an obvious setup. Then Laura learned that her mother’s Italian villa had burned down, so she left Port Charles to be with her, leaving Eileen in charge once again.
Helping Anna spy on Victor, Lucy Coe listened in on his call with Eileen and quickly reported to her pal that the deputy mayor was in cahoots with the Cassadine. Upon her return, Laura found Eileen blasting Robert for trying to protect Anna, who was under arrest for Lucy’s murder (a frame job set up by Victor, obviously!). Ashby also informed a recently-returned Holly Sutton that she knew she was also working for Victor. And when Holly went on the run from the police, Eileen made sure to be at the station to keep tabs on their search.
