The mention of Dominique on GENERAL HOSPITAL may have thrilled longtime fans but left newer viewers wondering who this woman was. Well, that’s where we come in! The character was introduced back in June 1991 and was initially played by Tawny Fere Ellis. However, very soon, Shell Danielson took over the role and made it her own until the character’s tragic demise in 1993. Although she did bring Dominique back for a brief run on the GH spinoff PORT CHARLES in December 1997.
Dominique Stanton was introduced as a deaf woman trapped in a loveless marriage to Leopold Taub. She then fell in love with Mac Scorpio when he accidentally wandered onto the grounds of her family’s estate and went to Port Charles to find him. Once she tracked him down, she begged Mac for help in protecting her from Leopold and the two men fought over her.
During a gunfight, the noise of a shot restored Dominique’s hearing but Leopold had her committed to Shadybrook. After his involvement with an international cartel led to his death, Dominique inherited his fortune and was able to leave the sanitarium and reunite with Mac. However, they split up when she became jealous of his relationship with Holly Sutton.
Dominique moved on with her life and went into business with Julia Barrett and Scott Baldwin in Deception perfume. She had a brief romance with Sean Donely’s son, Connor Olivera, but after a wild weekend in Vegas with Scott, they awoke to find they were married! Returning to Port Charles, they ended up canceling their divorce plans as they fell in love. Tragically, in 1993, Dominique was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor and had only months to live.
When Dominique wanted to give Scott a child before she died, Lucy Coe stepped in to act as a surrogate and carry Scott and Dominique’s baby for them. Sadly, Dominique did not live to see the child born, but passed away in Scott’s arms after hearing the baby’s heartbeat. When Lucy later gave birth, she and Scott decided to name the baby girl Serena after Dominque’s family estate, Serenity.
Dominique’s spirit returned to comfort Serena in 1997 when the little girl was caught in an ugly custody battle with Rex Stanton, who was after Dominque’s fortune. She also appeared to Scott to take him on a Christmas Carol-like journey through his past, present, and future to help him open up his heart to love again.
In 2022, Scott was stunned to meet Cody Bell, who punched him out at first sight! After calming down, Cody revealed that he was Dominique’s son! So stay tuned to see how that drama plays out!
