Frank Benson on GENERAL HOSPITAL — Everything You Need to Know

Tags:

The connection between Carly and Nelle has some fans wondering who is Frank Benson on GENERAL HOSPITAL? Well, let us fill you in on what we know about the guy. The character has been talked about for years but was never seen on screen until 2020 when James Patrick Stuart (Valentin) portrayed him in some flashback scenes.

Frank Benson and his wife, Virginia, adopted Carly Benson in Florida, but he abandoned his family when Caroline was just three years old. He then met another woman and together they had a daughter named Nelle Benson. As a teenager, Carly went in search of her adoptive father to collect the years of child support and found him in Miami. And while Nelle insists that she was also present for that visit, Carly had no memory of meeting her little sister.

In 2011, Frank was instrumental in saving Josslyn Jacks‘ life when she required a kidney transplant. Jasper “Jax” Jacks was desperate to find a match for his daughter and since Frank had been writing to Carly for years looking for money, Jax paid him a million dollars to find a kidney for Joss. Five years later, Nelle arrived in Port Charles believing herself to be Josslyn’s kidney donor. It was later revealed that she was Frank’s daughter, and he’d had her kidney removed to earn the money. Frank had claimed he’d used the money to send Nelle to a fancy prep school but in reality had just gambled it away. Nelle also had a box of mementos that included a silver rattle with the name “Caroline” engraved on it. Nelle also revealed that Frank and her mother were both dead.

Carly and Nelle may not be biologically related, but their connection to Frank bonds them. Stay tuned to GH as more secrets from the past are revealed!
