Fans will be able to enjoy Xavier as the lead singer of the band playing at The Savoy, though he admitted that he was a little hesitant when GH executive producer Frank Valentini asked if he was interested in performing on screen. “I just thought it was way out of left field and plus, they wanted me to do it in two weeks, which was a very short time to get everything together,” he confided to Soap Opera Digest. “But Frank and Mary-Kelly [Weir], one of the producers, who was on the phone call that day, they were like, ‘Come on, Phideaux, do it! Do it!’

“So as one can only do in life, I said yes,” Xavier continued. “It just so happened that I had written a new song called ‘Do What You Will’ and I sent Frank a copy of the song and he liked it, so I had to essentially finish the song as quickly as possible to get it into a position where I could perform it on the show.”

Xavier also revealed that the cast wasn’t aware at first who the “singer” mentioned in that episode’s script would be, but once it was public knowledge, they were incredibly supportive of the director-turned-soap-performer. “With most of the cast there, we have a little bit of a bond, where they know that I’m there for them and rooting for them and that I am going to make their day as easy as possible,” he explained. “So I think for a lot of them it was kind of interesting to be on the other side, and they were like, ‘Now he’s the one on stage and we’re going to be supportive of him!’”

So make sure you tune in to enjoy Xavier’s musical stylings in this very special episode of GH!
