GENERAL HOSPITAL Is Preempted on Monday

Bad news, soap fans! While New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day are falling on the weekend this year, the holiday is still impacting the daytime schedule. GENERAL HOSPITAL is preempted on Monday, Jan. 2, for ABC Sports coverage of the Citrus Bowl.

Because the football game is scheduled to run from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. ET, ABC is preempting GH nationally, which is actually a good thing. Because this means that no one has to worry that they missed it and go online to watch it to stay caught up on all the drama.

GH Carly Nina argue
“Sorry, this will have to wait until Tuesday.”ABC

So if the game is over by the time GH comes on in your time zone, you’ll likely see an encore presentation of a recent episode, though ABC didn’t reveal which one they’d picked for that possible situation.

There will be no new episode of GH on Monday, Jan. 2, so don’t even bother looking for it on Monday evening on ABC.com or Hulu because it won’t be there. Just tune in on Tuesday, Jan. 3, where the drama will pick up right where it left off on Friday! (And remember to double-check your DVRs to make sure they’re scheduled to record because while it’s the unscheduled preemptions that usually cause trouble, it’s better to be safe than sorry!)

Happy New Year!
