GH Fans Celebrate “Sprina” With a Billboard in Times Square!

It was no April Fools’ joke when “Sprina” fans surprised GENERAL HOSPITAL stars Nicholas Chavez (Spencer) and Tabyana Ali (Trina) with a billboard in Times Square! “The greatest fan base in the history of soaps?” Chavez mused on Twitter as he shared a selfie video he took on that evening.

Even with the rain beating down on everyone, spirits were high as Chavez turned his camera on the fans gathered in the heart of the Big Apple. “What’s up?” he shouted. “We are in Times Square!” After panning his phone around to show Ali huddled under an umbrella and all the other fans cheering along, he added: “Sprina Nation!”

Following a private dinner with fans in Astoria, Queens, held by Coastal Entertainment, Chavez and Ali made their way to Times Square where a group of “Sprina” fans had paid to have a billboard celebrate the popular young couple and GH’s 60th anniversary. The screen cycled through different images but every hour on the hour, people in Times Square could see a special montage of images of Spencer and Trina in love.

Chavez took over the role of Spencer Cassadine back in July 2021 and was quickly paired with the character of Trina, then played by Sydney Mikayla. Fans were immediately taken with the chemistry between the two and gave the couple the smush nickname “Sprina.” When Mikayla opted to leave the soap to focus on her education, the role of Trina was recast with Ali in March 2022. But despite the change in actresses, the popularity of the couple never wavered.

Spencer and Trina have had their ups and downs and things are still pretty rocky, but then again, what love story ever runs smoothly on a soap opera? But whatever happens, “Sprina Nation” will be there to cheer them on even in their darkest moments!
