GH’s Nicholas Chavez Reacts to His Daytime Emmy Nomination

Tags:

When the Daytime Emmy Awards nominees were announced, Nicholas Chavez (Spencer, GENERAL HOSPITAL) was blown away to receive his second consecutive Emmy nod since joining the soap in July 2021. And while last year, he was nominated — and won! — in the Outstanding Younger Performer category, this year he’s graduated to Supporting Actor!

“Well, this is definitely going to take me some time to process,” Chavez admitted in a selfie video he posted to Twitter. “But first thoughts, I just want to say thank you so much to everyone and… wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow.

“Thank you,” he continued. “This is a very cool experience and a massive honor and congratulations to every single person who is nominated alongside me. This really, really means a lot. And, as always, let’s go, GH! Thanks, guys!”

In the 2022 Daytime Emmy Awards, Chavez was nominated and won in the Outstanding Younger Category which had its maximum age lowered from 25 to 21. For the 2023 Daytime Emmys, the cap was lowered even further to 18, which meant he was too old for Younger Performer and had to submit in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category.

And he’s among good company competing for that trophy, including three of his GH co-stars! Also nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor this year are Chad Duell (Michael, GH), Dan Feurerriegel (EJ, DAYS OF OUR LIVES), Robert Gossett (Marshall, GH), and Jon Lindstrom (Kevin/Ryan, GH).

The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be held on Friday, June 16, airing at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. So tune in to see who takes home the gold!
