GH’s Vernee Watson Heads Back to BEL-AIR!
Actress Vernee Watson (Stella, GENERAL HOSPITAL) is going back to Bel-Air! She’ll be taking a trip from Port Charles to visit the tony neighborhood in an upcoming episode of the new Peacock series BEL-AIR scheduled to premiere on Thursday, March 24.
Although currently starring on GH and in the primetime sitcom BOB HEARTS ABISHOLA, Watson has quite the extensive resume that includes playing Will Smith’s mother, Viola “Vy” Smith in the original THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR between 1990-95.
Because the new Peacock series is a reboot that reimagines Will’s adjustment from West Philly to Bel-Air, Watson will obviously not be playing the young man’s mother this time around. Instead, she’ll be playing Janice, one of the members of the Art Council Board of Trustees. And joining her in this episode is Daphne Maxwell Reid — who played Aunt Viv in the original series — as Helen, another board member!
BEL-AIR, which stars Jabari Banks as Will Smith, premiered on Peacock in February 2022, and new episodes stream every Thursday. Watson’s episode will premiere on Thursday, March 24, so you have plenty of time to binge episodes one through eight! And the first season finale of BEL-AIR will premiere the following week on Thursday, March 31.
