Helena Mattsson Fills in for Sister Sofia as Sasha on GH!
Prepare for another temporary recast in Port Charles! Helena Mattsson will be playing Sasha on GENERAL HOSPITAL, taking over for her sister, Sofia Mattsson! “Such a blast jumping in on my sister’s show for the day,” the actress exclaimed on Instagram, sharing a pic of herself mimicking her sibling’s pose in her official gallery photo hanging in the studio hallway.
According to Soap Opera Digest, the recast will only be for a few episodes and will begin on Thursday, Feb. 17. And apparently, it was Sofia’s idea to have her sister fill in for her! “I thought she was joking at first,” Helena told the mag, “but of course, I said yes!”
Born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden, like her sister, Helena also started out as a model before transitioning to acting in 2004. Viewers might recognize her from films like Surrogates or Iron Man 2 or from her roles in primetime series like DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, NIKITA, 666 PARK AVENUE, BETRAYAL, MISTRESSES, AMERICAN HORROR STORY, PAPER EMPIRE, or THE ROOKIE.
This recast comes on the heels of other temporary recasts like Lindsay Hartley filling in as Sam again, Leo being played by another young actor for an episode, and Marshall getting a new look for a bunch of shows. Also, Réal Andrews recently announced that he was coming back to reclaim the role of Taggert. Thankfully, this will just be another temporary recast, so don’t panic when you see Sasha looking a little different on GH — it’s just for a few episodes!
