James Patrick Stuart Mourns the Death of His Father, Chad Stuart

Please join us in sending condolences to GENERAL HOSPITAL star James Patrick Stuart (Valentin) and his family as they mourn the death of his father, Chad Stuart. The GH actor announced the sad news on Instagram on Dec. 20 by posting a simple shot of his late father, raising a glass in a toast. The uncaptioned Instagram snapshot was complemented by a sweet poem of tribute Stuart posted on Twitter: “Higgledy piggledy hi-de-ho… Miss you, kiss you daddy-o… Wish you’d stuck around a bit, but you were sick and had to split. Just know that I could not be sad… when I’m this grateful you were my dad.”

The elder Stuart was one half of the British-invasion musical duo Chad & Jeremy, known for such 1960s hits as “Yesterday’s Gone,” “A Summer Song” and “Before and After.” Although the duo split up by 1968, Stuart continued to work in the music industry in the ‘70s as a producer and eventually reunited with Jeremy Clyde in the ‘80s.

The singer, who just turned 79 on Dec. 10, died of pneumonia after being admitted to the hospital after a fall, according to a post on the Chad & Jeremy Facebook page.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Chad Stuart, a father, a husband, a brother, a grandfather, a friend, a mentor, a teacher, and an inspiration to many,” read the statement. “Chad developed pneumonia (non-COVID related) after he was admitted to the hospital due to a fall. We ask for love, celebration but also space while the family adjusts to life without this incredible force. The family would like to thank his fans from around the world for the outpouring of birthday wishes and gifts he received every year. Chad took the time to read each and every card. The world has lost a legend today, but his voice will continue to touch our lives through his music.”

Our thoughts are with Stuart and his entire family at this difficult time.
