James Patrick Stuart Returns to GENERAL HOSPITAL Next Month!
It hasn’t been that long, really, since Valentin has been seen in Port Charles, but James Patrick Stuart wanted to reassure fans that he would be back on GENERAL HOSPITAL very soon. “Currently filming the eighth episode of the new Disney+ comedy VILLAINS OF VALLEYVIEW,” he tweeted. “Missing GH very much and happy to report Valentin will be back in March.”
Back in May 2021, Stuart assured fans that although he was shooting the pilot for the superhero comedy series — then titled MEET THE MAYHEMS — the set was only 15 minutes from the GH studio and he had no intentions of leaving the ABC soap. So although some fans may have worried when the Disney series was picked up for a full series order in December, Stuart continued to appear as Valentin Cassadine at the same time. (One of the perks of Disney owning ABC, it seems.)
The last time that Stuart was seen on screen was in the Feb. 10 episode where Nina approached him to explain the situation with Sonny and “Mike” and ask if he would help her in a battle against Michael. Also, Austin was curious if Valentin would make Brook Lynn for lying to him about Bailey being his daughter. While the Cassadine declined to get in the middle of the mess that Nina had made for herself, it still remains to be seen if he will forgive Brook Lynn for breaking his heart.
Stuart will be playing a very different kind of bad guy in THE VILLAINS OF VALLEYVIEW, a series centered around a family of supervillains who are trying to hide from their enemies by pretending to be normal humans in a small town. He’ll be playing the role of Kraniac, so we can’t wait to find out what his superpowers are!
But being off shooting his new Disney+ series explains why Valentin wasn’t more involved in the climactic episodes where Peter met his end. Though he’s likely to offer Anna a shoulder to lean on upon his return. Of course, he’s still got Victor’s various schemes to deal with… and paying his father back for having him kidnapped… plus talking to Brook Lynn about roping him into her scheme… Boy, March can’t come soon enough — Valentin has a lot of business to deal with!
