When mysterious newcomer Austin revealed his full name was Austin Gatlin Holt, it rang some bells for longtime viewers who remember Jimmy Lee Holt on GENERAL HOSPITAL! But for those who don’t recall the character — or just want a refresher — we’re here to help with that! Jimmy Lee Holt was played by actor Steve Bond from January 1983 until December 1986, and here’s what you need to know about his time in Port Charles…
Jimmy Lee Holt moved to Port Charles from Indiana and when his mother, Beatrice LeSeur, joined him, they revealed that he was actually Edward Quartermaine’s illegitimate son. After his mom overdosed on Lila Quartermaine’s heart medication, Jimmy Lee inherited $20 million in exchange for his silence and joined forces with Heather Webber to get custody of the late Susan Moore’s son, Jason Quartermaine (and his trust fund!). Unfortunately, their plan was foiled when Monica Quartermaine allowed Jason to live with them.
When Edward’s cousin, Celia Quartermaine, came to town, Jimmy Lee felt an immediate connection to her but their passionate affair came to an end when she chose Grant Putnam instead. Jimmy Lee tried kidnapping Celia to talk her out of marrying Grant — who was really a secret DVX agent taking the actual Grant’s place — but failed. He then moved on to Monica’s cousin, Lorena Sharpe, but she also chose another man over Jimmy Lee.
After the Quartermaines went bankrupt temporarily, Jimmy Lee and the rest of the family had to rent rooms over Kelly’s Diner, but they soon returned to the mansion. Jimmy Lee reconnected with Celia, who believed Grant was trying to kill her, and they rekindled their romance and got engaged. Grant plotted to win Celia back with some Aztec treasure, but Sean Donely double-crossed him.
In 1986, Jimmy Lee fell on difficult times when some of his waterfront properties collapsed, and unwilling to give up the good life to which she’d become accustomed, Celia left her husband and Port Charles. Jimmy Lee then married Charity Gatlin and moved to Pautak, NY, to help her run a country store. When Edward passed away in 2012, Jimmy Lee received no inheritance, but in July 2021, Austin Gatlin-Holt revealed that he was Jimmy Lee and Charity’s son and wanted his part of the Quartermaine fortune. Sadly, however, Austin also revealed that Jimmy Lee had recently passed away.
