Josh Swickard and His Wife’s Holiday Movie Is Getting a Sequel!
Congratulations to GENERAL HOSPITAL star Josh Swickard (Chase) and his wife, Lauren! Their Netflix movie, A California Christmas, has been so successful that it’s already been announced that there’s going to be a sequel! “Complete disbelief,” the actor exclaimed on Instagram. “Number one on Netflix globally! Thanks to everyone who supported this little movie. Can’t tell you how much it means to Lauren and me.”
Variety is reporting that the production company behind the film has already fast-tracked development on the sequel, which is titled California Christmas: City Lights. Filming is expected to begin in early 2021 and the movie will again star Swickard and his real-life spouse as Joseph and Callie, as well as other familiar faces from the original movie. Lauren is once again scripting and the sequel will see her character adjusting to her new beau’s big city lifestyle.
A California Christmas, which tells the story of a wealthy real estate mogul who poses as a ranch hand to get a farmer to sell her family’s property, turned out to be a surprise hit for Netflix. Although the streaming service does not release any kind of audience numbers, Forbes reported that as soon as A California Christmas premiered on Netflix, it immediately stepped in to take over the top slot and retain it for days, beating out big releases like The Prom and holiday mainstays like How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Christmas Chronicles series.
