Josh Swickard Teases Chase and Brook Lynn’s Future on GH!
At long last, GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Chase has his badge back. And according to portrayer Josh Swickard, being reinstated by the Port Charles Police Department was something that his alter ego seriously doubted would ever happen!
“It’s a mix of that disbelief and just pure elation,” Swickard told Soap Opera Digest of how Chase felt the moment that the review board ruled in his favor, “just because of what a long time coming it was and because he has been working so hard to get back to being a cop.”
Swickard added that it wasn’t lost on the guy that the letter his ex-girlfriend, Brook Lynn, had written in his favor likely played a large part in his reinstatement. “He understands what Brook Lynn did to help get him there,” said the actor. “It’ll be interesting to see how he tries to maybe remedy some relationships, right some wrongs.”
Chase was certainly hurt when Brook Lynn purposely declined writing a letter of recommendation to the review board last winter — hoping that if he didn’t get back his job as a cop, he’d continue his music career with her as his manager. That, of course, backfired once Chase found out what Brook Lynn had done and promptly dumped her. However, the pair have again grown closer in recent weeks. Does Swickard think that Chase might be able to someday give Brook Lynn a second chance despite the trust issues that tore them apart?
“That’s an interesting question,” he admitted. “I think you kind of have to [be on guard], just as a human. I think there’s a chance that they work, but damage has been done… trust has to be earned back on both of their parts.”
If he had his way, however, Swickard would reunite the couple. “It would have to be a slow go, but they could do it!” he exclaimed, concluding with a laugh, “Just because I’m an optimist.”
