Joshua Benard Wants to Return to GENERAL HOSPITAL!
In case you missed it, the actor playing Adam, Josslyn’s study partner, on the March 16 episode of GENERAL HOSPITAL wasn’t just a random young man hired for the role. That was actually Joshua Benard, the son of daytime icon Maurice Benard (Sonny). “I really liked the character,” the teenager told Soap Opera Digest. “I like characters that have a lot going on underneath them, characters that are intricate.”
While Adam may have been a major creeper by hitting on Joss and bringing up the sex tape of her and Cameron, Benard had a great time working with her portrayer, Eden McCoy. “Everyone was saying that we had great chemistry on screen, and I think we do,” he shared. “I just met her on set, and we did it, no rehearsal.”
As longtime viewers know, this wasn’t Benard’s first appearance on the soap. In November 2018, GH aired a special “What If” episode that explored what Sonny’s life may have looked like had he not gotten involved with the Mafia. The younger Benard, who was 13 at the time, was cast as a young Sonny Corinthos for the standalone episode. And like his first time working on the GH set, Benard received zero input from his father, who has won multiple Daytime Emmy Awards over the course of his career. “My dad was on set,” Benard revealed, “but he was doing another scene.”
Benard, who also appeared in an episode of STATION 19 in October 2021, hopes that his brief scene as Adam won’t be his last visit to Port Charles. “I really hope, one day, to get to do a scene with my dad on the show,” he confessed. “That’s the goal. So… get me back on the show!”
