Kathleen Gati Celebrates Her Anniversary at GENERAL HOSPITAL

Tags:

Please join us in congratulating Kathleen Gati, who is celebrating nine years on GENERAL HOSPITAL playing Dr. Liesl Obrecht! “As I celebrate my nine-year anniversary of my first day on the set of GH,” the actress shared on Instagram, “I want to thank all my amazing GH fans and friends for all the kindness, support, and love.”

When August 1 rolled around this year, Gati was surprised to suddenly realize that it had been nine years ago that she first reported to work in Port Charles and expressed her gratitude to those behind the scenes that made it happen. “I cannot thank [executive producer] Frank Valentini, [casting director] Mark Teschner, and all you awesome GH fans enough for all the love and support!” she tweeted.

Of course, some of that success is also due to Gati’s fantastic performance as the devious doctor. Originally meant to just be a short-term villain role, Obrecht proved so popular that her story just kept evolving and she was giving a family that included daughter Britt, and nephew-turned-son Nathan! Her performances at the annual Nurses Ball became instantly iconic, and who can forget about her terrifying turn as Krampus at the GH holiday party, scaring all the kids?

Even as fans have enjoyed Gati’s scene-stealing work on GH, they have also followed her to other series to watch her on FEAR THE WALKING DEAD: FLIGHT 462 and ARROW as well as guest appearances on shows like NCIS: LOS ANGELES and WEEDS.

And everyone can celebrate all over again on Tuesday, Aug. 24, when the ninth anniversary of Gati’s first on-screen appearance as Obrecht comes around!
