Kelly Thiebaud Says Goodbye to GENERAL HOSPITAL
After giving GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers a chance to dry their eyes after Britt’s tragic death in her mother’s arms, portrayer Kelly Thiebaud got her followers all teary again when she posted a poignant goodbye to her fans and colleagues on Jan. 8.
In a video on Instagram, the Daytime Emmy winner shared a montage of memories from her decade in Port Charles. The video began with footage from Thiebaud’s point of view as she arrived at The Prospect Studios for her final day of work, walking through the doors of the GH studio, going into her dressing room, and eventually making her way to the set. From there, Thiebaud shared clips of several of her storylines through the years: being told by boyfriend Patrick’s daughter, Emma, that she didn’t like her very much and replying that she didn’t like the little girl either, tearily admitting to Nikolas that baby Benjamin was actually Lulu’s son, telling a young Spencer that she was leaving Port Charles and several bestie moments between Brad and Britt.
“A tribute to all the years I’ve been lucky enough to entertain you as Dr.Britt Westbourne and lucky enough to work with such wonderful and kind people,” Thiebaud captioned her post. “Being on this show, being in your living rooms every day, is an experience I will cherish for the rest of my life. Thank you for all of the amazing support over the years.”
The video also included snapshots taken by Thiebaud during her time on the soap, like winning her Daytime Emmy Award in June 2022, and many behind-the-scenes shots from the taping of “Britch Fest” during her final few episodes. There was also a teary scene when Britt told Jason to leave her alone, and the moment when Britt was revealed to be Dr. Liesl Obrecht’s daughter.
“There are so many people not in this video only because I didn’t get a picture with you but I truly miss seeing all of your faces at work,” Thiebaud continued. “One day I hope to share all of my stories about being on GH with my kids and what a fun time I had. I love you all. ❤️ P.S. sorry this video is so long 😬.”
The video came to a close as Thiebaud — dressed in Dr. Britt Westbourne’s white coat — walked out of the doors of the hospital set for the last time. “From the bottom of my heart,” the actress concluded on the final slide of her montage, “thank you.”
