Former General Hospital star Kelly Thiebaud (ex-Britt) will have her work cut out for her over the next several months, as she is training to run the New York City Marathon in just 11 weeks!

An avid distance runner, Thiebaud ran the iconic race through the five boroughs of New York City back in 2019 and recently felt the urge to do so again. Runner’s World suggests training for the 26.2-mile distance for 16 to 20 weeks, already putting Thiebaud behind the ball when it comes to readying her body for the race, set to take place on Sunday, Nov. 3. But Thiebaud is determined not to let that stop her!

“I just did my first training run,” Thiebaud revealed in an Instagram Reel, sweating from the “Texas boiling heat.” She also confessed that while she set out to run four miles, she only clocked three miles and some walking as she is still recovering from an injury. “I have not done four miles since May, since I strained my hamstring. So four miles did not happen this morning! But that’s okay, you have to listen to your body. Know when to stop, when to push yourself.”

On Aug. 12, Thiebaud posted a poll in her Instagram Stories, asking her followers if they thought she could train for the NYC Marathon in just 11 weeks. In her video, the former GH star thanked both the supporters and the naysayers for pushing her to achieve that goal! The 34% of you that said you can train for a marathon in 11 weeks, you are my people,” she declared. “Thank you for the support. To the rest of you that said it’s impossible, I can’t wait to prove you wrong. Thank you for the motivation, because I am going to do it.”

Not only is Thiebaud determined to train for the legendary race in 11 weeks, but she is also determined to beat her previous time. “In 2019, I ran it in 4 hours and 6 minutes. This year, I’m going to run it in under four,” she declared. “I’m going to do it.”

Before signing off with a snapshot of the poll results, Thiebaud admitted that tackling this training program in a shorter period tracks with her personality. “If you know me, you know that I do not back away from a challenge. I actually run towards them. If my life has shown me anything, especially this year — which has been one of the most challenging years of my life — it’s that I can do anything. I literally can do anything I set my mind to.”

We look forward to seeing more updates from Thiebaud as she shares her journey to the NYC Marathon! (Which fellow soap star Greg Rikaart (Leo, Days of Our Lives; Kevin, The Young & The Restless) is also running!)
