Longtime fans were delighted to see Kristina Wagner back as Felicia on GENERAL HOSPITAL, as she hasn’t been on the soap in quite a while. The actress debuted in the role back in September 1984 and appeared regularly for decades before dropping to recurring status. Unfortunately, the onset of the coronavirus pandemic put the kibosh on any more appearances for a bit.
“They wanted to include me in Peter and Maxie’s wedding,” Wagner confided to Soap Opera Digest. “But I was a little hesitant, which is why that didn’t happen.” However, she did make a special appearance in the May 2021 episode paying tribute to John Reilly and his character of Sean Donley. “I was glad they honored that relationship,” she admitted.
However, Wagner knew that she would eventually be back in Port Charles again. “When you’re an actor on GH,” she smiled, “you’re an actor on GH until death do you part.” And at the end of 2021, when the soap’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, reached out to her manager to see if she would be interested in returning again to the soap, the timing was just right.
“I’m really thrilled about it,” Wager enthused. “I’m actually really excited about just having some creativity in my life again, and being back in this environment has been riveting. This show is a well-oiled machine and we’re moving at light speed. It’s very challenging but I’m up for the challenge and I’m thrilled to be here.”
Of course, while enjoying reuniting with old friends among the cast and crew, the actress had to admit that being out of the loop has posed its share of problems. “Being away from the show for so long, I don’t know who some of the characters are or what’s going on with the characters I do know,” Wagner confided. “What I have found is that if you have a question about anything, you can just type it in on Google and it is amazing! As I’m studying my scripts, I have my computer right next to me asking questions.”
Although she has been on recurring status with the soap for previous stints, this time she is back on contract at GH and looking forward to what’s next for Felicia. “There’s a lot of opportunity,” Wagner mused. “I like how they’ve put me on the canvas and it’s created a lot of color for the story that’s going on. I think the fans are going to like it. I think this is going to be fun!”
