Laura Wright Recalls the Day Her Life Changed Forever

On June 7, GENERAL HOSPITAL star Laura Wright (Carly) recalled how three decades ago, her life changed forever! “30 years ago today,” the actress shared on Instagram, “I was working at my dad’s gas station in Chesapeake, Maryland and received the phone call that changed my life — ‘Be in New York by 5 tonight. You start work tomorrow morning.’ Still in shock.”

To visualize her memories, Wright also shared a photo of an old headshot proclaiming that Laura Sisk (her maiden name) was starring as Alison Rescott on LOVING. Her successful audition landed the actress that role on the ABC soap in 1995, and when LOVING was canceled in November of that year, she was one of the cast members that moved over to its short-lived spinoff, THE CITY.

When THE CITY came to an end in 1997, Wright moved over to CBS Daytime to originate the role of Cassie Layne on GUIDING LIGHT. In 2005, she chose to return to ABC when she was cast as the fourth actress to play Carly Corinthos on GH. Wright and her family packed up and moved from New York to Los Angeles, and she’s never looked back!

Wright has been playing Carly for over 15 years now and has received six Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress during her tenure, bringing home the gold in 2011. And she doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, so fans can look forward to plenty more years of powerful performances from this talented actress!

“Still so grateful and still madly in love with what I get to do every day!” Wright exclaimed of her three decades in daytime. Congratulations on such an impressive achievement!
