Lindsay Hartley Reveals Her Mother’s Cancer Has Spread
Amid all the happy, cheery Mother’s Day posts on May 14 was a heartbreaking one that came from daytime alum Lindsay Hartley. The actress — who has appeared on soaps as a fill-in Sam on GENERAL HOSPITAL, PASSIONS’ Theresa, DAYS OF OUR LIVES’ Arianna, and ALL MY CHILDREN’s Cara — shared with her followers on Instagram that her mother, Wendy Korman, has been battling cancer for the past 18 months. And sadly, it has spread.
“One year and a half ago, my mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer,” Hartley began, explaining that Wendy has been receiving treatment every other week at City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center in Duarte, CA.
The two photos that Hartley shared in her post were of her and Wendy, dad Jeff, and daughter Isabella. Hartley and her mom were sporting red and green Christmas-themed headbands while Isabella wore a colorful floral crown. “This was taken last Christmas at the hotel on their property,” Hartley shared. “My daughter thought it would be fun to all wear light-up headbands for the early light show we were all going to see that night. My mom was too tired, so we just lit up our headbands and had our own light show.”
Holding on to that dear memory, the actress went on to explain that the family recently learned that Wendy’s cancer has progressed. “Her cancer has spread to a membrane under her lung,” Hartley confessed. “Just over a week ago, COH said there is nothing more they can do for her.”
Jeff Korman is presently searching for other treatment options for his wife, according to the actress. “My mom is an inspiration, a fighter, and so strong,” Hartley continued. “I am grateful for her and her time. I am also grateful for my dad who relentlessly pushes forward and encourages my mom constantly to live and not give up.”
Wrapping up her nontraditional Mother’s Day post, Hartley wrote that her world is centered around her daughter. “And as for Isabella… well, she is my everything,” the actress concluded. “Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers out there. We see you and we love you!”
