Lisa Niles on GENERAL HOSPITAL — Everything You Need to Know
Lisa Niles wasn’t on GENERAL HOSPITAL for long, but she made quite an impression! However, if you weren’t watching then, or just need a refresher, we’ll fill you in on her dangerous history in Port Charles! The character first appeared in November 2009 played by Julie Mond, but when GH decided to take the character in a new direction, the role was recast with Brianna Brown in January 2010. Her run came to a violent end in October of 2011. Here’s what you need to know!
Dr. Lisa Niles was an ex-girlfriend of Patrick Drake who began working at the hospital alongside him. Although she briefly dated Steven Webber, Lisa couldn’t resist her old feelings for Patrick and they had a one-night stand while his wife, Robin Scorpio Drake, was in Africa. Once Robin returned, Lisa remained obsessed with Patrick and began harassing them, going to extremes like faking a hit-and-run to make Robin look like the crazy one.
After Robin was suspended for punching Lisa in the hospital, she and Patrick pretended to be broken up to lower her guard in the hopes of tricking her into confessing. But Lisa caught on and replaced Robin’s HIV meds with tranquilizers, kidnapping her to an abandoned cabin where she nearly died after falling in a well. After Patrick rescued his wife, they confronted Lisa, who threatened to shoot herself and was sent to a mental institution.
Lisa was soon released and tried to make it seem like she was better, but went right back to trying to kill Robin. But after her attempt to lock her in the basement with a gas leak turned out to be a trap set by Robin and Patrick, Lisa found herself under arrest. After escaping from Shadybrook, Lisa showed up at GH with a loaded gun to take Robin, Maxie, Patrick, and Steve hostage! She shot Spinelli when he stepped in front of Maxie, and threatened to inject Robin with drain cleaner. In the struggle, Lisa accidentally injected herself and slipped into a coma. Months later, villain Anthony Zacchara brought Lisa out of her coma for another rampage on The Haunted Star. But days later, Lisa’s dead body was found in the harbor and after a brief murder mystery, it was revealed that Patrick’s brother, Matt Hunter, had killed her.
