Marcus Coloma Reveals Why Nikolas Had To Be Recast on GH

Tags:

Fans were wondering why Nikolas was recast on GENERAL HOSPITAL and now Marcus Coloma has explained what happened! “I got COVID a month ago,” he revealed in a video he posted of himself dancing to Carly Rae Jepsen’s new single “The Loneliest Time.”

And just as the pop superstar sings “I’m coming back to you, baby” in her song, the actor will be back on the soap before you know it! “Thank you for all the lovely love,” he wrote. “I should be back on the screen next week.”

Viewers were startled when Adam Huss was playing Nikolas again in the Nov. 14 episode of GH, though he was a familiar face to those who recall him stepping in for Coloma back in September 2021. While that was only for one episode, this has proven to be for slightly more, given that Coloma had to recover from COVID and also test negative before returning to the set.

The COVID pandemic continues to spread around the world, though thankfully with vaccines and boosters, hospitalizations and deaths are down. But it’s still very easy to catch, and has caused quite a few temporary recasts in soaps, particularly on GH. Recently, the role of Michael had to be recast on multiple occasions when portrayer Chad Duell first caught COVID and later required treatment for a heart problem caused by the virus.

Coloma has proven very popular as Nikolas since his October 2019 debut, so it’s good to know that he’s all recovered and back taping episodes of GH and should be back on screen very soon. Because there’s still plenty of drama to come with Esme and her baby… especially once Ava learns the truth! We definitely want Coloma in the scenes when all hell breaks loose!
