Marcus Coloma Says Goodbye to GENERAL HOSPITAL
The rumors are true — Marcus Coloma is out at GENERAL HOSPITAL.
After setside sources initially reported the news, the soap later confirmed that the actor will no longer be playing the role of Nikolas Cassadine. Soap Opera Digest is also reporting that his final airdate will be at the end of January.
“It’s hard to even say it,” Coloma admitted in an Instagram video. “I get so sad when I think about it. I don’t know what I can or can’t say other than what an incredible ride. There’s such a family feel at GH, which I felt so blessed to be a part of.
“And I’ve said this a million times,” he added, “the fans are the best fans in the entire world and I think a lot of that is just because you guys have been watching for such a long time. So thank you for including me, thank you for the love. Much love.”
Coloma took over the role of Nikolas Cassadine in October 2019, although he was temporarily recast in September 2021 and November 2022 with Adam Huss. The role of the Cassadine prince has been recast multiple times since Tyler Christopher originated the role back in 1996.
At this time, GH has only revealed that Coloma will no longer be playing Nikolas, but not if they are planning to recast again or if they will be writing the character off the canvas in some way. With all the drama surrounding Nikolas’ divorce from Ava and keeping a pregnant Esme captive in Wyndemere while roping Liz into his crazy schemes, a recast seems likely.
