Maurice Benard Reveals Son Joshua’s New HBO Project!
Like any father, GENERAL HOSPITAL star Maurice Benard (Sonny) is extremely proud of his children and their accomplishments. And fans were intrigued when he revealed on Twitter that his son, Joshua Benard, “has an HBO project coming out in July.” Well, we finally know what that project is, and it’s the new HBO series THE REHEARSAL, premiering on Friday, July 15, at 11 p.m. ET! “I’m so proud to say my son, Joshua, is in this,” the elder Benard declared on Twitter. “And as everybody already knows, Nathan Fielder is freaking hilarious!”
In THE REHEARSAL, comedian Nathan Fielder helps ordinary people prepare for life’s biggest moments by allowing them to “rehearse” beforehand with simulations he’s designed featuring sets and actors. While there are no details as to which episode Joshua is slated to appear in, one show centers around Fielder trying to help a woman prepare to raise a child. With a series of young actors playing her future “son,” it seems likely that Joshua would be one of those. But you’ll have to watch to see for sure!
GH fans first discovered Joshua’s talents when the teen appeared in a November 2018 episode of the soap as a young Sonny in the special “What If?” anniversary show revealing how the mobster’s life would have been very different if he had made alternative choices during his past. He then resurfaced in a March 2022 episode playing Adam, a classmate of Josslyn’s who teased her about her sex tape that had been splashed across the internet. And in June, Joshua reprised that role for another episode where Adam apologized for his behavior.
In addition to his GH appearances, Joshua has been in episodes of the primetime series STATION 19 and GOOD TROUBLE. And now THE REHEARSAL.
