Fans of GENERAL HOSPITAL were just as startled as Julian when he was visited by three spirits in the Dec. 16 episode — including Connie Falconeri’s! Megan Ward was thrilled to reprise her role again and step back into the bloody white dress the character was wearing when she was shot to death in 2013. “Enjoyed some Christmas Carol,” the actress shared on Instagram along with a selfie she grabbed at the ABC studio that day with William deVry (Julian), Ian Buchanan (Duke), and Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis). “It’s never work when you’re having fun. Especially when you get to do the haunting.”
With Julian bleeding out from a gunshot wound, he was haunted by visions of some of the characters he’d wronged in the past. First was Duke, who had been assassinated by Carlos, acting under Julian’s orders. Then Kate, who Ava had killed to protect the secret that Derek Wells was really the back-from-the-dead Julian Jerome. And finally, Alexis, who isn’t actually dead, but who still appeared to her ex-husband to remind him of the time he held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her!
Ward first joined the cast of GH in May 2007, playing Kate Howard, a former lover of Sonny’s from Bensonhurst who had changed her name from Connie Falconeri to avoid her past. She dropped to recurring status with the soap in 2009 and eventually exited in 2010. The character returned to the canvas in 2011, but recast with actress Kelly Sullivan, who continued in the role until Ava shot Connie dead in 2013.
When Ava was haunted by visions of her own past evil deeds in a special episode that aired in January 2018, Connie made an appearance, but because Sullivan was unavailable to reprise the role for that show, Ward stepped back in. And just like with that 2018 episode, Connie’s return in this show was kept hush hush in order to surprise viewers, something that’s increasingly difficult to do in this day and age. So bravo to GH for pulling it off!
