Titled A California Christmas: City Lights, the heartfelt second movie takes place a year after city slicker Joseph fell in love with ranch owner Callie. Newly engaged, the couple is now running a dairy farm and winery on Callie’s family’s property, and Joseph has mostly separated himself from his family’s real estate development company. However, when business matters and family obligations back in San Francisco require his attention, Joseph brings Callie back to the city with him — but Joseph’s past threatens to destroy the future he and his fiancée are trying to build together!

Penned by Mrs. Swickard (who also produced the film), A California Christmas debuted on Netflix last December to huge viewings, holding the streaming service’s top spot globally as the most-watched program for approximately a week. In fact, the movie was so popular that Netflix had ordered a sequel even before Christmas, fast-tracking Lauren’s development of the sequel’s script so it would be ready for this year’s slate of holiday programming. City Lights was filmed in July while the GH star was on hiatus from the soap, with the Swickards’ infant daughter, Savannah (then four months old), tagging along.

“I will never walk onto set without tearing up at the sight of my world come to life,” Lauren shared on Instagram shortly before production on City Lights wrapped. “Josh, thank you for working every scene with me at all hours of the night while writing this thing, super-pregnant and hormonal. I love you, I love you, I love you!”
