Réal Andrews Opens up About His Friendship With Maurice Benard

Tags:

Digging through some old photographs inspired GENERAL HOSPITAL actor Réal Andrews (Taggert) to share his feelings about longtime friend and co-star Maurice Benard (Sonny). “What can I say about this amazing man?” he posted to Instagram with a trio of pics spanning the decades. “I found these pictures going back 27 years ago to this most recent one of me and Maurice and one in the middle.

“When I think of the trials, tribulations, struggles, and challenges that he has conquered, I’m truly amazed,” Andrews continued. “He has earned what will be three Emmy awards when he rightly earns his third coming up, wrote a number one best-selling book, created a platform for mental wellness when everyone else said he was literally crazy, created a show (State of Mind) where he gives back weekly, he and his wife adopted amazing babies and raised an amazing family, and being an amazing friend and mentor and coach to me personally.

“I am just so humbled and honored and proud to know this man and I just wanted to put it all in writing so you know how much I love you, Maurice,” he concluded. “How much I appreciate you, how much I’m grateful that 27 years ago, God blessed me by putting you in my life. Thank you for all you do, you are, and all you will be. God bless.”

Naturally, Benard took the time to respond to his friend’s heartfelt message in the comments. “Thank you, Réal, my brother from another mother,” he replied. “Love you. You have always been supportive. I can say the same thing about you and you’re such a great asset to GH.”

It’s great to see this is one bromance that is still going strong! And it’s fantastic to see these two friends able to work together again on GH, so hopefully, Sonny and Taggert will have more scenes together soon!
