California residents might recognize a familiar face in Carly’s storyline because ABC 7 Eyewitness News anchor Ellen Leyva is making a special guest-star appearance on GENERAL HOSPITAL in the Wednesday, Oct. 5 episode! “What am I doing here?” she teased on Instagram back in August when she taped her show. “Can you guess?”
“Your eyes aren’t deceiving you, Southern California,” the soap teased on social media with a pic of the anchor posing on the Florida cemetery set with GH stars Cameron Mathison (Drew) and Laura Wright (Carly). “ABC 7’s own Ellen Leyva guest-stars on today’s exciting new GH. Can she help Carly’s mission to stop Peyton? Don’t miss it!”
Leyva currently co-anchors the ABC7 Eyewitness News at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.. And she was thrilled to appear on the long-running ABC soap. “Cameron made me feel so welcome!” she enthused. “I was so lucky to do my cameo with him and incredible actress Laura Wright. I was so impressed watching the heavy scenes they had to do. Wow! Just wait! Sparks are flying with these two! Thanks to both!”
In a bit of typecasting, Leyva will be playing a reporter who interviews Carly about her push to stop the highway rezoning that will force the relocation of the Florida cemetery where her mother is buried. Might this appearance on the local news be what helps Carly stop Peyton’s plan to destroy her mother’s final resting place? You’ll have to tune in and find out!
Leyva also admitted that while she enjoyed making her cameo, she’d love to come back for more. “I think I’m a frustrated actress,” she joked during a news report about her appearance. “I would love to be on… I said, ‘Aren’t I somebody’s long-lost cousin?’ I want to be the villain!”
